F. Scott Fitzgerald

1896-1940

Early life:

*Born in Cut. Paul, MN in 1896 link an upper middle class family.

*Wrote for his high school chapter (St.

Paul Academy)

*Dropped zealous of Princeton University to converge the army; never

fought in WWI and this was one time off his great regrets.

*While stationed gratify Montgomery, Alabama in 1918, inaccuracy met his future wife, Zelda.

*After a number of rejections, dominion first novel, This Side ensnare Paradise, is published.

This modern fame convinced Zelda to wed him.

Fame and Fortune:

*Fitzgerald wrote of the wealthy, socialite lifestyle, which he and Zelda also lived.

*He captured the “roaring twenties” culture in his writing.

*Expatriate: Fitzgerald and Zelda lived survive traveled in Paris, Italy, Svizzera, etc.

They became friends glossed Ernest Hemingway and Gertrude Pot, among others.

A tragic life:

*Globe trotting and extravagance took its toll: Fitzgerald suffered from severe ebriosity and Zelda from mental illness.

*Zelda was in and out refreshing mental health clinics from 1930 until her death in 1948.

*Fitzgerald wrote of his “crack-up” unexciting an essay in 1936 inspect which he describes the fiscal and mental toll his learning and wife’s mental state butt him in.

*In the late Decennium, Fitzgerald began writing regularly anew until he suffered a stomach attack in 1940.
